Free Tableau and Data Cloud licenses for Salesforce users

This year’s edition of Dreamforce, Salesforce’s annual event, was full of interesting keynotes, but one piece of information in particular caught our attention. Salesforce announced that Sales and Service Cloud users using Enterprise and Unlimited licenses will receive free access to a package including:

  • two Tableau Creator licenses and
  • Data Cloud licenses for up to 10,000 profiles (with access to all features of the Data Cloud platform).

In addition, Salesforce will offer users a tutorial to help them get started with Data Cloud.

Why is this good news?

Data Cloud is a relatively new product, and many people who use a CRM system from Salesforce on a daily basis have not had the opportunity to become more familiar with the tool. The arrival of the license package gives users a chance to familiarize themselves with the new solution and see its value to the organization.

Consolidating sales data from all Salesforce instances used in a company will allow Sales Cloud users to identify business opportunities and priority customers better (targeted sales), and increase revenue.

Service Cloud users also will be able to consolidate data from all Salesforce instances, allowing customer service representatives to gain a 360-degree view of each individual customer (personalized service).

Here’s what using the package looks like in practice

  1. Acquiring data about a given customer from multiple sources available in the organization;
  2. Unifying the extracted data;
  3. Defining and calculating multidimensional metrics based on the data you have (e.g., evaluating performance at the channel level; analyzing shopping and browsing behavior);
  4. Visualizing the data in Tableau;
  5. Displaying the consolidated data in the account assigned to a given customer in Salesforce.

What does Salesforce Data Cloud enable?

  • Access to rich business data sets,
  • more personalized marketing and sales efforts,
  • more effective customer service,
  • tools to analyze data and create advanced reports.

There’s more good news for users – at the beginning of September 2023, Salesforce made it possible to prove Data Cloud competence with the Data Cloud Consultant certification. Thanks to the license package, professionals who want to obtain the certificate will be able to get a good feel for Data Cloud in their daily work before taking the exam.

The release of the free license package is part of Salesforce’s broader strategy to promote Data Cloud and popularize the tool in every product segment offered by the company, including sales, customer service, and marketing. The entire Salesforce software suite is called Customer 360.

A few words about Tableau and Data Cloud

Tableau is one of the most popular solutions for data visualization and business analytics. It allows users to import data from various sources, transform it, and create interactive charts, tables, maps, and dashboards that help them understand and present data in a clear way.

Tableau helps make better decisions based on data. The tool is used in business, social sciences, education, and many other fields.

Data Cloud is a platform and set of services offered by Salesforce that enables access to large sets of business data, e.g.:

  • on customers,
  • companies,
  • and markets.

It is a tool that makes it easier for companies to acquire, combine, and analyze data, which in turn helps them better understand customers, improve marketing, sales, and customer service strategies, and make better, data-driven decisions.

Data Cloud is Salesforce’s fastest-growing organic product – it was developed entirely by Salesforce, unlike other solutions acquired through acquisition (such as Tableau, Mulesoft, and Slack).
